Packaging firm lands at Peterlee
Printing and packaging firm The Encore Group has bought the former Walkers Crisps distribution centre in the Northeast fuelling major expansion plans.

THE COMPANY, which manufactures around 25% of all envelopes posted in the Uk each year, has taken the 103,000 ft2 facility in Peterlee to helps with its expansion. Since 2021 the company has seen turnover treble.
The Encore Group bought the 1990s property out of administration following the collapse of Heather Mill’s VBites vegan food manufacturing business at the end of last year. It previously was home to Walkers Crisps.
The property comprises a modern warehouse with high bay extension totaling 102,940 sq ft on a site of 7.3 acres. Externally the site extends to 7.3 acres providing 34% site density with extensive yards with trailer parking to the front and rear of the warehouse facility. There is also a designated staff and visitor parking area to the western elevation. The company has said the site will be fully operational by June 2024.
