Retailer uses ‘pay as you grow’ warehousing from Wincanton
Rather than take the traditional path of acquiring storage space and trying to grow into it, Paul’s Boutique is using Wincanton’s “pay as you grow” model where businesses only pay for the space they need.
Paul’s Boutique started in 2002 when founder Paul Slade opened a stall selling bespoke women’s wear in London’s famous Portobello Road. In the 11 years since, it has grown into a global brand and now the business has its sights set on doubling turnover in the next few years.
One of the steps towards achieving this goal has been for Paul’s Boutique to increase its warehouse space and capability, which it has done at Wincanton’s facility in Greenford, West London.
Steve Woodard of Paul’s Boutique said: “When the lease at our former premises expired we knew we needed more space to facilitate our ambitious growth plans. However, while we could have simply moved our operations into a larger facility, the additional cost that would have created might have restricted our expansion plans.
“For that reason we decided to take space in Wincanton’s Greenford facility, which not only gives our business certainty but also provides us with the flexibility to take on more space as and when we need it and ensures our own customer service levels remain high.”
Wincanton will manage the storage of the Paul’s Boutique ranges of women’s clothing, accessories and perfume and deliver the products to department stores across the UK.
