Uniserve makes major investment in sustainable trucking
The 3PL is accelerating its commitment to sustainability with a significant investment in Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG) vehicles and Longer Semi-Trailers (LSTs).

USING LNG trucks and Longer Semi-Trailers is said to reduce carbon emissions by 95%.
At the forefront of this green initiative is a fleet of Bio-LNG-powered tractors, each offering a range of 450 miles per tank. While this is slightly less than the 550-mile range of a standard diesel truck, the environmental benefits are substantial. By utilising Bio-LNG, a non-fossil fuel produced from organic waste such as animal manure, sewage sludge, and food waste, Uniserve’s fleet achieves a remarkable 95% reduction in CO₂ emissions compared to conventional diesel-powered trucks.
Supporting this investment, Uniserve has installed Hydrotreated Vegetable Oil (HVO) fuel tanks at its Tilbury and South Kirkby Distribution Centres.
Complementing the green fuelled fleet are Uniserve’s Longer Semi-Trailers (LSTs). Measuring up to 15.65 metres, over 2 metres longer than standard trailers – they carry 15% more goods per trip. This increase translates directly into fewer journeys, less traffic congestion, and substantial emissions cuts. When deployed effectively, LSTs significantly contribute to a safer, cleaner, and more efficient transport network.
Uniserve group transport director Gordon McCormick, says: “Our investment in Bio-LNG-powered trucks and LSTs demonstrates that sustainability and efficiency can go hand in hand. By reducing emissions and optimising our transport operations, we are actively contributing to a greener, cleaner future.”
