Swisslog reshuffle sees James Sharples move to MD in the UK
27 March 2013
Leading automated warehouse solutions provider, Swisslog, has reorganised its UK based Management in order to strengthen its business throughout Europe, the Middle East and Africa (EMEA).
Swisslog has bases throughout Europe, previously organised into two centralised business groups. The restructure involves the merger of these business groups into one, under the former Head of Central Europe, Andrew Manship.
The newly created EMEA region, headed by Andrew, has over 700 staff and a view to further geographic expansion. Andrew spoke of his promotion and explained how the restructure represents a new opportunity to push the brand forward and strengthen business in areas such as Turkey and the Middle East.
"We are very pleased to have made this exciting move,” said Andrew. "Our presence throughout EMEA will increase over the coming years as we realise our growing ambitions and market expansion plans.”
New Managing Director for Swisslog UK
James Sharples will take over from Andrew as Managing Director for the UK business and will also join Swisslog’s EMEA Management Team.
Having joined Swisslog in 1998, James has held various management positions throughout its Realisation, Design, Consulting and Sales departments. James has also successfully led Swisslog’s Global Design Council for the last four years and been instrumental in securing a number of international projects for the company.
Andrew Manship said: "James is a great appointment, a known and respected figure in the UK market with a strong network of senior customer and industry contacts.”
Swisslog provides a complete portfolio for intralogistics automation, ranging from the design of material handling systems, through warehouse construction, system implementation and integration, to comprehensive and dedicated customer support.
The company has seen continued growth over recent years, as customers continue to invest in maximising warehouse efficiency, productivity and throughout.
"Our aim is to build on Swisslog’s existing success to produce an even stronger business. The changes will not only prepare us for realising our planned growth throughout EMEA, they will give us an even greater focus on the UK market and help our local customer base to take advantage of the many opportunities presented by new technologies, systems and developments in automation,” concluded Andrew.
