Training on offer

17 May 2013

IPAF's PAL+ training course is now available from Mentor.

The course, designed for experienced workers operating in high risk or challenging environments, comes recommended by the UK Contractor's Group (UKCG).

Operators who work in overhead confined spaces, around pillars or steel frames, on challenging terrain, or above or below obstacles, are encouraged to take the additional one-day course to further supplement their skills.

Like any standard IPAF course, training is category specific; delegates can complete PAL+ training on a Static Vertical (1a+), Static Boom (1b+), Mobile Vertical (3a+) or Mobile Boom (3b+) providing they show a valid PAL card as proof of basic training on the relevant equipment type. The day is made up of theory and practical training and testing, followed by an interview. Practical exercises include driving over rough terrain, manoeuvring through doorways and operating in confined areas.

Mentor is able to offer availability under several of the few instructors in the UK qualified to deliver PAL+ training. Both open and closed courses are available at off-site training facilities in Barnsley, Telford and Crawley.
