Royal Mail Christmas strike averted
05 December 2013
Royal Mail and the Communication Workers Union (CWU) have negotiated an agreement in principle over employee pay, legal protections, industrial stability and pensions.
The deal still has to be passed by both the CWU executive and the Royal Mail board but the CWU has confirmed industrial action will not take place during the ratification process, which includes the Christmas period.
Assuming the CWU executive accepts the deal, its details will become clear as the union will then ballot its members for approval.
The union insists its industrial action ballot remains valid during the ratification process.
