Collaboration key as Boots awards DHL 5 year contract
17 March 2014
DHL Supply Chain will handle national cross dock, chill and transport operations for the Boots UK network of 2,500 stores until 2018.
The two companies have had a 15 year relationship.
DHL will now manage the national primary operation for Boots UK at its main site in Beeston, Nottinghamshire, working closely with two chill distribution centres and 14 cross dock operations.
The new contract is designed to 'stimulate greater efficiency and collaborative initiatives with other retailers, such as shared retail high street deliveries and backhauling'.
Boots UK distribution contract manager, Simon Macdonald said: "DHL has adopted a collaborative and value added approach with our business, and we are pleased to partner with them for the next stage of our operation as we work together to grow our business. Our focus is on ensuring that our customers can get the products they need to help them feel good, and an integrated and streamlined supply chain is key to making this a reality.”
