Omni-channel fulfillment
15 May 2014
Retailer Hat World has commissioned Swisslog to install a state-of-the-art Omni-channel order fulfillment and storage system, at its central distribution centre in Indianapolis.

Swisslog will provide its AutoStore solution, which will be fully integrated into the existing facility by year-end 2014.
The LIDS Sports Group, operating within Hat World is comprised of the LIDS retail headwear stores, the LIDS Locker Room specialty fan retail chain, the LIDS Clubhouse retail stores, the LIDS Team Sports wholesale team sports business and the company’s various Internet businesses.
The solution will increase storage capability and throughput within the existing facility, while supporting all of these distribution channels. The core part is comprised of storage for 100,000 SKUs served by robots with highly efficient goods-to-person pick functionality.
Vice President of Operations Tony DeFrench says: "This project will support our continued sales growth and ensure fast, accurate order fulfillment to our stores, 3rd party partners and direct E-Commerce customers. At the same time, it will provide us with the ability to maximise our operational efficiency with reduced inventory investment."
