German handling equipment manufacturer plans UK launch
22 October 2014
LKE Group has targeted the UK to help in its bid to double turnover over the next five years.
At a launch event at the Houses of Parliament, the company’s MD Björn Riechers said it plans to open a UK office in 2015 and is presently scouting for the best location.
The German group, which has close ties to Deutsche Post, turns over €35-40 million per annum.
LKE manufactures a broad range of handling equipment from pallet trucks to trolleys, parcel roll cages and ‘milk run’ style production trains.
The company is active in a wide variety of industry sectors and sees three key opportunities in the UK. These are intralogistics, that is, providing handling equipment for automotive and other manufacturing industries.
Hygienic handling is also considered important with clean room and pharmaceutical sectors a target.
Lastly, the parcels industry is in the company’s sights. The company has considerable experience here and will seek to target its equipment parcel firms that are growing quickly thanks to the internet retail boom.
LKE already supplies companies based in the UK, such as the Bosch boiler manufacturing plant in Worcester.
