Jamie Walsh named Apprentice of the Year

09 March 2015

Jamie Walsh from Rack-N-Stak has won the FLTA Apprentice of the Year award for 2015.

The 21st annual FLTA Awards for excellence have spoken, seeing Jamie Walsh from Rack-N-Stak, pick up the Apprentice of the Year award 2015.

The National Apprentice of the Year award highlights the enthusiasm, professionalism and loyalty of today’s apprentices, along with their determination to become trained service engineers. FLTA chief executive Peter Harvey said: "This Award is designed to recognise the dedication, academic achievement and hard work of one of the current crop of excellent young apprentices.”

Now in the third year of his apprenticeship, Jamie attends North Warwickshire and Hinckley College, along with completing a day release at Wigan College, highlighting his hard working and dedicated attitude to developing his skills. North Warwickshire and Hinckley College has recently achieved Grade 1 for Quality Assurance, therefore ensuring it as one of the leading training and education establishments in the UK. It successfully provides candidates like Jamie with the baseline technical knowledge alongside the functional skills that can then be applied in a candidate’s place of work.

FLTA chief executive Peter Harvey further spoke saying: "Among this year’s third-year apprentices, Jamie stood out from the crowd – impressing both tutors and the technical committee with dedication and skill.” Jamie’s determination and drive shone through in what was an extremely close call for the FLTA as to who should win the award and for the first time a runner up was also acknowledged.

After being presented with the award, Jamie commented: "I am absolutely delighted to be named as 2015 Apprentice of the Year and happy that all the hard work I have put in throughout the past year has been recognised by my tutors and the FLTA”.

Rack-N-Stak MD, Dave Tyrer said: "I am extremely proud of Jamie and what he has achieved, proving to be a huge asset to Rack-N-Stak. I am a firm believer in nurturing and developing talent from within, as with any successful business; it's the people that count. Apprentices are the lifeblood of the industry and to see Jamie collect the national award for apprentice of the year, shows that we have an outstanding team here at Rack-N-Stak.”
