UK's first lithium ion powered counterbalance truck

The Toyota Traigo 48 electric forklift truck is said to deliver class-leading energy efficiency and is available with lithium ion batteries as an option.

Lithium-ion battery technology allows for fast, opportunity charging at any time. This revolutionary battery management eliminates the need for battery change in multi-shift applications. It is believed the Traigo48 is the only EL CB offer on the European market available with Li-Ion batteries as a direct factory option.

Dave Rylance, counterbalance product manager explains: "Our goal was to exceed our customers’ expectations, and with the Traigo 48 we delivered class-leading productivity through increased performance and lower energy consumption. This truck range is also an important step forward thanks to the offer of Li-ion batteries as a standard option, which reduces the need for battery change in many operations and pre-operational checks, giving operators the option of managing their truck safely and efficiently thanks to Toyota I_Site truck management."

The new Traigo 48 range is said to be 9% more energy efficient than its next competitor in class and provides the operator with increased productivity while reducing costs, thanks to extended servicing periods.

The new Traigo 48-volt electric forklift comes with improved electric power steering for effortless steering and features force feedback, ensuring accurate driving control at all driving speeds. This truck offers enhanced driver control with full stop on ramp and accurate positioning with and without load. Its compact chassis and ergonomic upgrades mean customers can count on a longer operating life, even in the most intensive operations.

The 3-wheel models are available from 1.5 to 2.0 tonnes and are highly manoeuvrable in confined areas. The 4-wheel models, available from 1.6 to 2.0 tonnes, can handle intensive operations in both indoor and outdoor environments and now feature an improved turning circle. These versatile and flexible forklifts can access all areas, delivering an excellent all-round performance for all materials handling applications. They are also equipped with the Toyota System of Active Stability (SAS) and Toyota AC motors to enhance productivity while keeping your operator, truck and goods safe.

Last year Toyota extended the Traigo 80 range to 5.0 tonnes. The 4.0, 4.5 and 5.0 tonnes completed the Traigo range of 80-volt electric counterbalanced trucks and are designed for heavy duty operations.

The complete range of Toyota Traigo 80 forklift trucks (now including models from 2.0t to 5.0t) covers a variety of applications: from stacking in narrow aisles with the more compact models through to heavy load handling in tough working conditions with the latest high tonnage models. The new models are more productive, safer and more energy efficient than ever. 

The benefits of working with the Toyota Traigo 80 have been maximised: the range offers longer operating time and longer service intervals as well as various energy management solutions. The new 4.0 to 5.0 tons forklifts also bring higher productivity thanks to improved driving speed of up to 18 km/h, stronger acceleration and quicker lifting resulting in 15% more pallet movements compared to its predecessor. The new range includes a 5.0 ton model rated at 600 mm load centre – offering increased residual capacities and ideal for lifting longer loads or working with heavy attachments.
