Reach to 13.8 metres with Tergo UHX

27 January 2021

UniCarriers has unveiled a new reach truck, the Tergo UHX, as well as a new order picker range, the EPL 100.

With end users demanding ever-greater capacity and throughput from their warehouses, the onus has been on manufacturers of materials handling equipment to lift more, higher and more quickly without any reduction in safety standards and with return on investment maintained or improved.

So, for existing clients, whose UniCarriers Tergo reach trucks are already storing 1550kg loads at a class-leading 12.1 metres, the UHX specification of 500kg to 13.8 metres meets just those criteria, raising the bar.

The latest specification Tergo UHX reach truck provides a safe, reliable and tried and tested solution for getting the most from every square foot. And that flexibility doesn’t just mean storing more at greater heights; it means the freedom to put away even more pallets without the need to find low-level or floor locations, saving time and cost while also boosting safety margins.

The UniCarriers Tergo’s award winning ‘operator-focused’ ergonomics, robust chassis, outstanding stability and vast array of custom options together with exceptional lifting performance make it the perfect partner for the most demanding of high rack warehousing environments. The Tergo UHX enables operators to increase substantially their storage capacity within a current warehouse footprint or where space for expansion is limited or non-existent, as well as in high cost-per-foot applications such as cold storage.

Fast-moving in the warehouse

UniCarriers has also expanded its range of order pickers offering a customised solution for picking heights up to 3.4 metres with the new EPL 100. The truck is available in two versions. It is 140mm narrower and 400mm shorter than the previous UniCarriers order pickers for this range of applications as well as 33% faster in high-speed mode. The versatile truck therefore speeds up the order picking process and helps to reduce the costs of material handling.

Of all work stages in the area of material handling, order picking is the most labour and cost intensive. Companies therefore reduce their logistics costs most significantly by improving the order picking performance. This is now possible with new EPL order picker from UniCarriers, which is particularly fast-moving in the warehouse with a standard speed of 9km/h and a high speed option of 12km/h. The medium level order picker has a load capacity of 1000kg.

According to the version it achieves picking heights of 2800mm or 3400mm and allows convenient order picking from racks or pallets. The ergonomic equipment features of the EPL 100 contribute to improved work performance and reduced levels of fatigue for the driver. The position of the controls can be adjusted individually for each driver and therefore allow easy and comfortable operation of the truck. Furthermore, the low step in height of 160mm provides easy and comfortable access to the truck while the cushioned floor significantly reduces levels of fatigue.

As well as speeding up the order picking processes, the EPL 100 also maximises operating safety. Before the start of the journey, the operator logs in to the onboard computer with a personal PIN code. A sensor in the floor registers whether the driver is on board. Only then can the truck be started. In addition, the EPL is equipped with a walk beside option, where the operator can operate the truck on foot.

Other optional safety features are an overhead guard as well as side gates on the driver’s platform, which are also fitted with automatic sensors. For trucks operating above the height of 1200mm the safety gates are a legal requirement. If they are not closed at this height, the truck automatically prevents further lifting of the platform.
