FSDF to tackle food challenges at leading show

18 March 2016

UK trade body Food Storage & Distribution Federation (FSDF) is to exhibit at this year’s Foodex exhibition at the NEC Birmingham, From 18th – 20th April 2016.

FSDF is delighted to be exhibiting at the UK’s premier trade event for the food and drink processing, packaging, ingredients and logistics industries. The Food Storage & Distribution Federation looks forward to showcasing the advantages of becoming a member and the support that they can offer to logistics companies, at this crucial time of challenges and change in the food logistics industry.

Over the past year, the food logistics industry has faced numerous challenges. The on-going Calais migrant crisis has created dangerous conditions around the Channel Tunnel crossing for many logistics providers. In addition, striking French ferry workers blocked motorways last year, causing much disruption to businesses and further aggravating risk of violence and break-ins for drivers.

Furthermore, changes in regulation such as the European Union’s phase down in F-Gas use have put pressure on the industry to develop more environmentally friendly, yet economically viable, alternatives for use in refrigerated transport. The possibility of Britain’s exit from the EU later this year could also mean extensive changes in regulation for years to come.

FSDF uses its in-depth regulatory knowledge and industry expertise to provide members with guidance. For example, FSDF’s adoption of the Primary Authority Partnership (PAP) scheme helps members manage their relationships with regulatory and enforcement authorities on a uniform UK-wide basis, handling compliance issues so that members can better focus on their business.

FSDF also regularly publishes guidance for members, helping them to better adapt to regulatory changes and implement best practise safety procedures. Most recently, the trade body has developed and registered Assured Guidance in consultation with the Health and Safety Executive on the safe use of equipment for working at height activities within a cold store environment.

FSDF welcome you to their exhibition stand at Foodex, located at unit M309. They also invite both members and non-members to attend a breakfast meeting on Tuesday 20th April for an update on FSDF and industry news.
