Making things stack up
09 June 2016
Warehouse efficiency is a hot topic. As consumers become more demanding and businesses become leaner, warehouses and the materials handling equipment that works within them need to innovate to support their customers as they grow.
The first point to consider is… do you have the right material handling equipment for the application. If you’re loading and unloading do you need a counterbalance forklift or could a pedestrian stacker do the job at a lower cost or would it be more useful to have an indoor / outdoor reach truck?
One way to make sure you are in a position to make an informed decision is to book a free Toyota trial and product demonstration. A highly trained Toyota team member will come to site to understand your operation, carry out a free site survey and then organise for you to trial the recommended truck or trucks. Call 0370 850 1409 for more information.
A site survey and trial has now been completed and you need to decide which piece of material equipment you are going to purchase or rent.
Is a stacker right for me?
Let’s look into it in more detail…
Pedestrian stackers have been developed and are now suitable for intensive applications. They lift high, offer great stability and are fast. Combine that with large battery capacities and high residual capacities and a stacker from Toyota Material Handling will lift your productivity to new heights.
The BT Staxio P-Series can come with a range of options and additions to make sure that it is built for your operation, whether you need elevating support arms for extra low level capacity or the facility to do double load handling. The Staxio range also comes in walkie, platform, stand in and seated options putting your operators’ safety and comfort alongside productivity at the top of the list of benefits to your operation.
The BT Staxio P-series (platform) for example can offer capacities of up to 2.0 tonne and lift heights of 6.0m, the highest in its class, making it an incredibly versatile piece of material handling equipment.
Its unique 5 point chassis makes the truck stable and easy to control, especially on ramps and uneven surfaces. It also includes Toyota’s Totalview concept which allows operations an unrestricted clear view of the mast, improving their accuracy and reducing potential damage to your goods and warehouse.
The whole range, and any Toyota truck for that matter, benefits from being manufactured using the Toyota Production System (TPS). With a truly global reputation as being the sign of quality, TPS gives you confidence that your truck is of the highest standard. That means it’s durable and can reliably work in tough environments allowing you to make sure you are keeping up with your customers growing demands.
On top of that the BT Staxio range comes with the option of Li-ion battery technology for those particularly intense operations. Li-ion is a maintenance free battery technology, resulting in 30% less energy consumption, exceptional battery life and the option for opportunity charging at any time, eliminating the need for battery change in multi-shift applications. This allows your operators to recharge the truck on theirs breaks, preparing it to go again on the next shift.
There’s more to our range than just traditional stackers…
A new range
Toyota Material has also recently launched three new stacker models. This unique range combines the compactness of a stacker with the flexibility of a reach truck. This results in a versatile solution that can handle any pallet type up to a height of 4.8 metres.
The short turning radius and the retractable mast make this solution ideal for working in narrow aisles, tight spaces and they are adaptable to a wide variety of environments, including cold store.
The models can also be optionally fitted with a side-shift or fork positioner to increase productivity and make your operators more efficient.
