FSDF calls for future leaders in logistics

07 September 2016

The FSDF is looking for young managers working within temperature-controlled food logistics to enter its 2016 Future Leader Award which recognises talented young professionals in the industry.

In addition to receiving this prestigious title, the winner will also represent the UK at the 2017 Global Cold Chain Alliance (IARW / WFLO) Convention in California in April 2017.

The FSDF Future Leader Award recognises talented young professionals who have demonstrated leadership and excellence in their current role and have what it takes to become future leaders. These outstanding individuals will have shown they have the potential to make positive contributions to the development of their employer’s business and the wider industry. Applicants must be 35 years or younger on 1st April 2017, have worked within the industry for a minimum of 3 years and have a broad knowledge of temperature controlled logistics. They can be employed in any section of the industry, including commercial, administration, technical, engineering, accounting, sales, handling, service or management.

To enter, applicants must showcase their knowledge of the industry as well as their vision for the future of the sector. They also need to provide letters of recommendation that support their entry from their supervisors or colleagues and be available to attend the WFLO/IARW Annual Conference in America on 22nd – 25th April 2017.

2016’s Future Leader winner was Kane Thomason of XPO Logistics, who went to Las Vegas to compete for the global title against national winners from USA, Australia and South Africa. Despite not being named as the overall winner, Kane has reaped the benefits of the winning the UK award by receiving recognition and a promotion within XPO Logistics.

Chris Sturman, CEO of FSDF, commented: “The FSDF Future Leader Award is fantastic opportunity for young people in the industry to shine a light on their achievements and receive recognition from the industry. Not only does this present a great accolade for their CV, but the chance to represent the UK at the 2017 Global Cold Chain Alliance Convention in America is an outstanding opportunity for the UK winner to broaden their industry knowledge and meet with key industry players from around the world.”
