Forklift safety fundamentals

09 March 2018

Mentor FLT Training will join the Fork Lift Truck Association for a must-see seminar on forklift safety at The Health and Safety Event NEC in April.

Forming part of the Safer Logistics programme, the joint presentation entitled, ‘Forklift training essentials and practical segregation”, will be delivered by FLTA CEO Peter Harvey and Mentor FLT Training MD Stuart Taylor.

The speakers are returning by popular demand and this year turn their attention to the three essential elements of lift truck training required by the industry’s definitive guide, the Approved Code of Practice (L117).

Breaking down each element (Basic, Specific Job and Familiarisation), the duo will explain how each can be applied on site to ensure companies comply with the law, while keeping staff safe and productive.

In addition, the pair will offer a simple solution to ensure forklifts and pedestrians stay a safe distance apart: reducing the risk of accidents and serious injuries in the workplace.

Stuart Taylor adds: “Not only is it easy to implement, its universal, non-verbal approach makes it a valuable tool for staff, managers, customers and visitors at companies of all types and sizes. And, thanks to a free resource pack we’ve made available to employers, it costs nothing more than your commitment to improve safety standards.”

The seminar takes place on Wednesday 11th April in the Safer Logistics Theatre and Feature Area, as part of The Health and Safety Event.

Held at the Birmingham NEC, the Health and Safety Event runs from 10th to 12th April. The event offers a great opportunity to network and get the latest advice and guidance from industry experts.
