16 Cesab forklifts reduce operator fatigue at waste firm Roydon

Waste management and recycling provider Roydon Group has seen improved efficiencies after choosing Cesab M300 forklifts for two of its waste management operations.

Headquartered in Swinton, Manchester, Roydon Polythene and Roydon Polythene (Exports) have both experienced improved reliability and uptime since the 16 Cesab trucks were brought in to handle waste materials at both sites.

Four Cesab M315 diesel forklifts, one Cesab M318 diesel forklift and two M325 diesels are in use at Roydon Polythene, a market leader in the recycling and reprocessing of plastic film from the industrial, commercial and post consumer industry sectors. Managing more than 10,000 tonnes of recycled materials each year, Roydon Polythene is an Environmental Agency approved recycler with an ISO 9002 certified plant.

One of Roydon Poythene's Cesab M325s has been fitted with a Bolzoni bale clamp and another with the Bolzoni fork clamp, enabling them to transport plastic bales around site, load containers or curtain sided vehicles and feed stock onto conveyor belts.

At Roydon Polythene (Exports) there are six Cesab M325 diesel trucks and three Cesab M330 diesel forklifts, all fitted with Bolzoni bale clamps or fork clamps. This site manages the recycling of waste materials such as plastics, paper, metal and WEEE at government or environment agency registered facilities. The operation is fully licensed by the Environment Agency, with a large dry storage area of 13,000 square metres that handles in excess of 50,000 tonnes of mixed dry recyclable waste each year.

Both materials handling operations are intensive, with forklifts working 24 hours a day from Monday to Thursday and transporting between 160 and 180 tonnes of plastic bales each day.

Reliability and strength were the two biggest criteria for site manager Graham Stanhope, who said: “Our previous forklifts were breaking down too often, resulting in lost time and inefficiencies. After we approached Cesab dealership Global Materials Handling we decided to trial a Cesab M325 forklift for a year and had no issues with it whatsoever. We didn't need to call the engineers out once. It was popular with our operators who found it easy and comfortable to use.”

Ergonomics are central to the design of the Cesab M300 range, helping to reduce fatigue and physical strain for operators. This ensures better productivity and performance.

Graham: “We’re delighted with the performance of the Cesab M300 range and the impressive levels of service from Global Materials Handling. It makes a big difference to be able to rely on a forklift dealership local to us who can give us sound advice and support whenever we need it. We believe Cesab and Global's support is exactly what our materials handling operations need.”
