AstraZeneca revamps logistics in Germany

AstraZeneca GmbH, German subsidiary of the globally active pharmaceutical group based in the UK and Sweden, has entrusted healthcare logistics specialist Movianto with central warehousing and distribution of its goods in Germany. 

“With Movianto we found a partner who has 25 years of experience in distribution of drugs and who will guarantee nationwide supply of our pharmaceutical products in the future,” says Robert Tubis, head of sales service of AZ.

In 2020 the pharmaceutical group invited tenders for this logistics services. This year Movianto received the order and is now storing the AZ goods at its logistics site in Neunkirchen in the federal state of Saarland. The logistics service provider is also working for AZ in France, the UK and the Netherlands.

Features of the logistics solution include IT driven processes to improve protection against forgery and a business continuity plan  guaranteeing full functionality in case of emergency.
