Compact & organised

A Sidetracker multi-direction reach truck has enabled structural steelwork engineers Adstone Construction to upgrade the storage system at its Worcestershire premises, increasing warehouse capacity and efficiency.

Before the arrival of the Sidetracker all steel stock was stored on the floor and accessed by overhead crane, which often caused delays while material was found and handled. To solve this problem, Adstone decided to install 40m of cantilever racking, 4.5m high, designed to suit the dimensions of a Sidetracker with an overall width of just 1400mm. The racking is in three runs with rail guidance for the truck.

The racking is used to store all the company’s flat bar, which is usually 6m long and from 50 x 6mm to 600 x 20mm.  Each type has a separate location on the racking, making it quick and easy to find, and improving stock control. The full 360˚ manoeuvrability of the Sidetracker enables it to handle the long products within the restricted space available, avoiding the need for large turning areas.
