Continuous improvement

Closely following a Gold Award for safety and praise for continuous improvement in accident prevention, City Link is investing £180,000 to tackle workplace safety.

The Coventry-based premium express delivery company has built up a solid reputation in the health and safety field in recent years with a raft of awards, including five gold awards from RoSPA.

To improve the safety of working areas the company is using a new system of painted lines on the floors of its warehouses and yards to demarcate areas where only vehicles are allowed, or where pedestrians are permitted. The company is also introducing power pallet trucks to move cages as a safer alternative to forklifts in pedestrian interaction areas.
