Enabling flexible processes

Posted on Friday 10 December 2021

INSTEAD OF using cranes, the steel transport company Mundinger Transport consistently relies on forklift trucks for handling long goods. They enable significantly more flexible and efficient logistics processes.

Supporting this flexible concept in a new warehouse in Rudersberg is ten heavy-duty cantilever racks from OHRA, up to 74 metres long, with an arm level load of 4 tonnes and a rack load of 40 tonnes. The 50mm pitch of the adjustable, clip in arms allow the best possible adjustment of the height of the ten storage levels for the stored bundles. This allows the storage height to be reduced and aisles for the stacker to be optimised for higher efficiency. The result of this warehouse concept geared to speed is: Goods are usually delivered within 24 hours after ordering, delivering trucks wait a maximum of 60 minutes to unload and the precise access to individual items enables a high delivery quality. The number of forklifts used also makes it very easy to vary the warehouse's handling capacity – something that is not possible with cranes due to the system.
