Flat floors for VNA trucks

Posted on Friday 1 January 2010

VNA floor grinding experts Concrete Grinding (CG) has successfully completed projects to meet with various international floor flatness specifications including in Spain.

The client, a global specialist in energy management, operated Jungheinrich Trucks – EKX and EKS models, some narrow aisle and order picking trucks at their facility in Barcelona. Working in collaboration with Eurostick s.l., CG’s partner in Spain, CG initially ground a total of 1004 linear metres and the client was so impressed that they re-commissioned CG to grind a further 155 linear metres. In order to meet the client’s deadline, CG despatched 3 teams, operating 2 Laser Grinders, with 1 team working during the day and 2 teams at night to complete the grinding work. In total 22 aisles were ground whole aisle widths to VDMA Guideline. As the top height of the racking was 9.1m, this meant CG had to grind to Fx number 388.

After this project, the team went on to work for another client in Zaragoza, Spain, where they ground 5 aisles (total 135m) to DIN 15185>6m specification. The client was converting this existing empty warehouse into narrow aisle.

La Réunion

Without a doubt, one of the most remote locations CG has been to recently was La Réunion, a French island located in the Indian Ocean, East of Madagascar, about 200 kilometres South West of Mauritius.

This project was in collaboration with Promadis, CG’s partner in France, and working for Al Sei, a French construction company. The end user was an international multimodal transport specialist. The job involved grinding 10 aisles at 60m each (total 600m), whole aisle width, to TR34 CAT 1 and EN15620 DM2 specifications, as per client’s request. The warehouse operated Linde trucks within the narrow aisles. Working under intense heat of up to 43°C without air conditioning, the team completed the work successfully.

Al Sei was very happy, so much so that the Managing Director, Eric Heinz put pen to paper to officially praise the team: “Concrete Grinding completed all narrow floor grinding at the facility on Reunion Island. During that time, we have particularly appreciated their professionalism and rigour of their work. They continuously maintained a positive spirit and cheerfulness, despite tough working conditions. We are pleased with their contribution to the project and would recommend them as well as Promadis.”
