Heaters supplied for goods-in warehouse
Powrmatic NVx suspended warm air heaters and destratification fans are helping Numatic International maintain comfort conditions at its new goods-in warehouse whilst supporting the company’s commitment to low carbon operations.
The four gas-fired Powrmatic NVx 90 heaters and 12 CECX destratification fans at the new facility were installed by Taunton-based MBH Industrial Services.
Numatic International manufactures domestic, commercial and industrial vacuum cleaners – including the famous ‘Henry’ – as well as a wide range of more specialist equipment at its extensive site in Chard, Somerset. The newly constructed warehouse joins 19 other buildings at the 10 Ha site, most of which also use Powrmatic heaters.
Numatic has a strong commitment to sustainability and has been participating in the Plastics Industry Climate Change Agreement since 2009, hitting all of its targets since then. Energy efficiency was therefore a key criterion in the choice of heating system, alongside the company’s positive experiences of Powrmatic equipment in other buildings.
Numatic property & energy manager Andrew Smith said: “The new building has been designed with a high thermal performance to comply with the latest Building Regulations, so the space heating requirements are relatively low.
“This, combined with the efficiency of the Powrmatic heaters, enables us to maintain set-point temperatures in this 50,000 square foot building with just four heaters, ensuring high energy efficiency and low carbon emissions. The fact that the heaters are manufactured locally at Powrmatic’s factory in Ilminster also helped to minimise the overall environmental impact of the project,” he added.
The new heaters are interfaced to a building management system, along with heaters in other buildings, so that they can be monitored and controlled from a single location.
