High volume pallet movement
The SLS (Shuttle Loop System) from Diamond Phoenix Automation consists of multiple mobile units of steering railcars, fast and independent, running on a closed circuit consisting of a monorail ring fixed to the ground or at high level (automatic monorail system).
These self-propelling systems are distinguished by their high degree of operating flexibility that these solutions allow. The advantages are also increased by the possibility of installing the rail at height so as to avoid the constraints that fixed, ground level, installations inevitably introduce in the layout of a plant.
Compared to a conventional solution, the SLS system has the advantage of allowing the selective management of unscheduled load units. The ability to make different routes in real time, depending on the specificity of single load, or the condition in which where you find a working station, allows the plant to automatically strive for better distribution of material flows.
In practice, it is possible to achieve a dynamic balance of operational areas in the handling system: the tasks assigned to individual work-stations can be changed automatically by the system based on the performance of individual stations without interfering with the overall handling capacity of the line. The connection with the various work stations can take place in different ways since the individual shuttles can be equipped with special handling devices that allow the rotation, the transfer and lifting of the load unit.
The benefits of a SLS system are not only limited to a greater handling capacity of the unit load. Compared to a traditional system, the system modular design allows for easy expandability. The flexibility of the solution provides the ability to easily add or move the individual workstations or to modify the shape of the path. The system is also flexible to the change of volume of the load of the work stations.
