Is your warehouse safe?
A warehouse is the heart of many businesses, churning out orders and continually processing the flow of incoming and outgoing goods. It is arguably the most valuable area – not just in monetary terms but also in productivity.
But it is important to ensure the rehouse his safe. Simply making an assumption that workplace equipment is safe to use opens your warehouse up to the risks of unplanned maintenance and a worst case scenario of disastrous racking collapses.
Workplace equipment can cause injury/death to employees, damage to goods, cost of temporary storage, downtime, legal/compensation/insurance costs, damaged morale and public image if not properly maintained. It’s a lot to gamble, says Caledonia Signs.
The company continues: “The chance of a forklift truck, pallet truck, tow tractor or other manual handling equipment colliding with pallet racking is considerable but the reporting of such an incident is small, with drivers voluntarily informing management that they’ve hit pallet racking very rare.
“It is therefore critical to ensure your warehouse is frequently inspected, to identify damages and help prevent accidents.”
