Level 2 cut-resistant footwear

Dewalt has now provided workers with a cut resistant boot. The new style known as Crossfire has passed the CE EN ISO 20345:2011 cut resistant test above a level 2.

In order to get the footwear to certify above level 2 the upper material has to go through the following testing;

  • Abrasion Resistance, where the materials must undergo at least 500 cycles.
  • Circular Blade Cut Resistance, the minimum requirement is 2.5 index.
  • Tear Resistance, the material has to score a minimum of 25 N.
  • Puncture Resistance, the material has to score a minimum of 60 N.

The testing is vigorous and Dewalt's pass in this test is down to the new Kevlar upper. The Kevlar makes the upper of the boot up to three times stronger than if it was to use a regular leather upper. Therefore, making the Crossfire boot suitable for anyone else who uses a knife in the work place.

DEWALT has not only manufactured this boot with just the cut resistant feature in mind, the upper is also water resistant and it has implemented an aluminium toe cap and composite midsole making the boot lightweight. For more information contact Sterling Safetywear (Asia Tek).
