Mobile conveyors provide flexibility

Working with many clients across a spectrum of industries, Astec Conveyors are the first to acknowledge that eCommerce and packing requirements can be complex, as they face the challenges presented by increasingly demanding customers with ever-changing purchasing behaviour.

Astec sales manager Paul Fox explains: “There is a greater need from these customers to be able to change and configure conveyor positions easily and quickly, ready for the next sorting or packing operation and in food environments mobile conveyors can be easily moved to assist with cleaning operations.”

Fulfilling this need, Astec have a range of mobile modular conveyors to provide seamless flexible packing lines, which include gravity or powered roller conveyors, belt conveyors or modular belt conveyors. Depending on the environment these can be manufactured from stainless steel or mild steel powder coated to a RAL colour code.

Astec recently supplied further mobile modular belt conveyors for a major contract packing company in the UK. The success resulted from the flexibility of the conveyors, enabled them to be used in a variety of different packing operations and has led to further orders.

Manufactured from stainless steel, the modular belt conveyors with variable speed control are mounted on heavy duty locking castors for ease of movement and can be simply linked together.

Paul Fox adds: “The conveyors can be designed, manufactured and delivered to suit specific product requirements and operate as a simple stand-alone unit or fully integrated into a handling system.”
