New rental option
IAG Cargo, the cargo handling division of International Airlines Group, and the high tech thermal packaging provider va-Q-tec, have signed a global container rental agreement.
The agreement will allow IAG Cargo customers requiring temperature sensitive transportation to utilise thermal containers from va-Q-tec (va-Q-tainers) to transport their cargo in a safe and cost efficient way.
The va-Q-tainers deployed by IAG Cargo provide temperature controlled solutions for six temperature ranges from -70°C to +25°C in five container sizes and will be used as an advanced passive shipping solution.
The units use va-Q-tec’s cutting-edge phase change materials (thermal energy storage components, that absorb and store thermal energy during a freezing or heating process without considerably changing their temperature), ensuring a consistent layer of protection from temperature deviation. As a result, va-Q-tainers do not require the same level of moderation as active shipments throughout the journey, providing deviation-free shipping of temperature sensitive pharmaceutical and biotechnological goods.
"This agreement offers our customers wanting to ship temperature sensitive goods an excellent and cost efficient solution," commented Alan Dorling, Global Head, Pharmaceuticals and Life Sciences at IAG Cargo. "With consistent year on year growth in Constant Climate shipments, we are continually investing in innovative customer solutions that match our own high standards; as such we are fully confident that this agreement will be welcomed by customers looking to ship pharmaceuticals across the globe."
"We are delighted to partner with IAG Cargo. The broad network offered by IAG Cargo and the integrated va-Q-tainer Serviced Rental offer will provide pharma shippers with a reliable door to door temperature controlled solution that meets challenging requirements for global health care cold chains", added Dominic Hyde, Managing Director va-Q-tec.
