Parcel firm needs sorting boost
FIVES HAS been selected by Post Nord to install two turnkey sorting systems in Norway and Germany.

Post Nord is the leading provider of parcel and logistics services to, from, and within the Nordic region.
The company needed to increase the efficiency of its delivery network in Northern and Central Europe and decided to invest in the latest technologies from Fives for its new logistics centre in Drammen (Norway) and to modernise its existing one in Travemünde (Germany).
PostNord Norway head of production development Pål Eier says: “Item volumes have doubled in the last five years, and we expect the same to happen in the coming years, on a higher volume.”
Fives met PostNord’s needs and requirements for enhancing deliveries and handling performance by designing two tailor-made technical solutions for each specific facility: the GENI-Belt sorter; Fives’ generation of cross-belt sorters with high-speed GENI-Feed induction lines; and the EASY- Stream conveyor – Fives’ new modular line of conveyors.
In Norway, Fives’ sorting solution will process 15,000 items per hour. The facility in Germany is a brownfield. What is today a simple manual system of 4,000 parcel per hour will leap to 9,000 items/h. The sites will open in 2022.
