Q&A with Scurri who have raised €2.2m
The cloud based delivery management platform received funding from ACT Venture Capital, Episode 1 Ventures, Enterprise Ireland and private investor Pa Nolan.
Rory O’Connor, CEO and founder of Scurri said: "I am delighted that we have secured further funding from experienced investors of this calibre, who share our vision and ambitious plans. This investment is a testament to the hard work of the Scurri team and the funding will be used to focus on the next stage of our exciting growth plans. Our success so far has been due to our unrelenting focus on making personal delivery simple.
Earlier this year Scurri was successful in winning a contract with a Global eCommerce giant. Scurri also secured a multi million, five year deal with Fastway and Parcel Connect in November 2015.
Q: Has eCommerce peaked?
Rory O’Connor: eCommerce has certainly not peaked. The UK Retail Market is the most penetrated eCommerce market globally at almost 20% and as such has much scope to grow. Naturally, after such a rapid market growth over the past few years, the growth is not as fast, but among our top 10 customers, the one that is growing the ‘slowest’ is growing at 50%. Some of our clients are growing at 200%-300%. This shows that there is still growth in the marketplace.
E-commerce over the next five years is going to develop rapidly, and the type of e-commerce merchant we usually attract are the proactive ones, so they are growing faster than average.
eCommerce will never kill the High-Street, it will simply improve the overall offering. Customers enjoy the experience of shopping in a brick and mortar store. Retailers are embracing omnichannel and strive to integrate their stores with eCommerce functionalities but it is a complicated process in which Scurri can help.
Q: How much of a challenge is it to integrate Scurri with various WMS and various warehouse configurations? This can vary greatly from site to site. How do you overcome this?
Rory O’Connor: The crux of the issue is that all WMS are built to suit a particular warehouse layout which come in all shapes and sizes. Systems need to be able to adapt to this.
Scurri has been built with an effective API which is supported by our hands-on and agile integration team. This allows us to provide a bespoke integration with the customers WMS which is quick and with the minimum disruption.
Q: What is the key benefit you offer to retailers?
