Reachstackers supplied to shipping and logistics firm

Posted on Friday 1 January 2010

Kalmar has supplied three new reachstackers to Danish shipping and logistics firm DFDS for use at its Nordic Terminal in Immingham.

With the capability to accurately weigh the cargo whilst handling it, the Kalmar equipment will help ensure ships loaded at Immingham will comply with recently-introduced International Maritime Organization (IMO) regulations regarding the verification of container weights.

Two of the new Kalmar 4535 reachstackers supplied to DFDS are identical, whilst the third is enhanced with a Hydraulic Pile Slope beam leveller that provides safer and smoother levelling when loading containers onto tilting trailers.

"This purchase will promote the confidence of our customers in our ability to serve their needs fully, and the versatility and uniform capability will enable good machine utilisation at the terminal," Alan Finch, terminal operations director of DFDS, said.

DFDS has also ordered a new Kalmar DCF500-12, 50 tonne heavy-duty fork lift truck for use at Immingham.
