Robotic cask handling

SCM Handling has supplied a high speed cask handling system to handle beverage casks as part of a washer/racker system which fills casks at a rate of 600 per minute.

The SCM robot system picks filled casks in groups of six and re-palletises them placing the reused layer boards between each layer of casks. The system works at a rate up to 600 empty casks in and 600 full casks out per hour meaning a total of 1200 casks per hour are handled by the SCM system.

The system is typical of the equipment showcased recently at the company’s inaugural open house event. The two day event was attended by customers from a variety of different sectors including the food and beverage, converting, machine tooling and FMCG industries.
