Salad processing lines

Posted on Friday 1 January 2010

Adding to eight systems installed in 2012, LAC is supplying and installing four additional salad processing lines at Kanes’ Eco Facility in the Cotswolds, which has the capacity to produce 2 million bags of salad per week.

Using Multipond’s multihead weigh systems, the new lines will convey the washed salad leaves, via a vibratory feed to the weighheads for accurate portioning before entering the packaging phase.

The belt conveyors have been designed with a slight “troughing” effect to keep the delicate leaves central on the conveyor. Gentle handling is essential to keep the leaves in perfect condition and extend the shelf life – which suffers greatly if the leaves are bruised.
