State-of-the-art warehouse

Warehousing services company Sumitomo is partnering with automation specialist Savoye to create a state-of-the-art warehouse in Grobbendonk, Belgium.

Savoye will deliver the automatic order picking systems
and conveyors as well as the software infrastructure, specifically the WCS and
the WMS.

The site is the first project in Belgium which will make use
of Intelis, Savoye’s new conveyor system which is 100 percent electrical, fully
scalable and is connected on site, without prior configuration, based on a
‘plug and play’ concept. Another feature of the new conveyor system is its low
energy consumption.

The Intelis conveyor system will transport goods to and from
the three levels of the multi-tier shelving system which covers around 12,000 sqm
of the 20,000 sqm warehouse. Savoye is also supplying the packaging machines at
the end of the conveyor lines. The conventional pallet racks are already in
place and the remainder of the operation is planned to be operational by
September 2013.
