The case for paper
For many companies, ‘going paperless’ is an environmentally responsible ambition, but Tegrabond water activated tapes are a good example of how paper products can be more environmentally friendly, perform better and present a more cost-effective alternative to rival products.
Made from 100% recyclable materials from renewable sources, Tegrabond tapes are easily recycled along with cardboard waste and without threat to the environment.
Tegrabond also has consignment security benefits. Pressure-sensitive adhesives used for plastic packing tapes can easily be softened with heat and the tape removed without trace, putting contents at risk from tampering and theft. Water activated adhesive bonds permanently with cardboard fibres and cannot be removed without damaging the carton surface.
This permanent bond also increases the overall strength and rigidity of the carton, and is more resistant to extremes of temperature and humidity. It performs better with lower grade cardboard and is more resistant to age-related deterioration.
Presentation is another factor that is converting users across Europe to water activated tape. Available in natural and white kraft, Tegrabond is highly resistant to creasing and is excellent for high-quality overprinting.
The company says: "While the cost per metre of water activated tape is sometimes higher than that of pressure-sensitive plastic tapes, independent studies have revealed that its superior strength and adhesion mean that the amount of tape and time required to seal a carton is so much less that it invariably works out cheaper."
Compact, bench mounted Tegrabond electronic tape systems automatically dispense pre-set lengths of ready-moistened tape.
