Tote box making and robot packing system

Posted on Friday 1 January 2010

L.A.C. Conveyor Systems, a UK manufacturer working with CAP Systems and Schäffer, have recently installed a £500,000 tote box making and robot packing system for Stockmann in Helsinki, Finland.

The element that L.A.C. Conveyor Systems delivered came in three parts. A tote erector taking a stack of 15 flat pack totes, de-stacking them and erecting into formed totes at a rate of 1 per 4 seconds.

The second part involved taking totes off a supply line at a rate of 1 per 4 seconds and stacking them onto a dolly to a maximum of 10 per dolly.

The final part involved a robotic arm taking totes from a supply line and stacking them onto a pallet at a rate of 1 per second.

The rates of supply were the key to delivering the system and L.A.C. Conveyors were able to design an elegant solution for a complicated system that fulfilled all the customers’ requirements.
