True costs wrapped up

Posted on Friday 1 January 2010

According to Aetna, when it comes to wrapping pallets, it is possible to use a cost per pallet rental type scheme, which seems to be anything from 70p to £2 per pallet. Alternatively companies can own a pallet stretch wrapper either by buying the machine outright of purchasing it with the help of a finance house, and achieve costs of 34p to 48p per pallet.

While simply paying a cost of 70p a pallet seems reasonable, companies using a cost per pallet rental scheme are locked in to a contract, and if business grows the fixed cost of rental can become a burden.

Aetna asserts that over the short term it may seem convenient, but compared with leasing a machine and arranging your own supply of film, the ‘pay per pallet scheme’ is very detrimental to cash flow and budgets.
