UPN extending hub
Over the last year UPN has experienced a 30% increase in pallet consignments coming through the network.
In order to facilitate this growth UPN has recently begun work in extending its central hub facility at Fradley Park, Lichfield from 120,000 square feet to 170,000 square feet.
UPN Director Andrew Lowe says: “The investment in the hub, staff and equipment is essential to the whole network and demonstrates our commitment, not only to our members, but also our customers in delivering a first class service as pallet numbers increase.
“Staff numbers have also increased by 10% to complement the team we already have in place. We are also investing in our forklift fleet and now have more than 40 available for the transshipment of pallets.”
The growth experienced in this sector has been driven by businesses throughout the UK and Europe recognising the value and environmentally sustainable solution that a palletised freight network can bring.
UPN operates a national network of over 75 depots that provide coverage of the UK and 26 European countries. UPN operates a purpose built hub in the Midlands and has access to over 5,000 vehicles and two million square feet of flexible warehousing across its network.
