Warehouse efficiency boosted by electric vehicles

Posted on Friday 1 January 2010

Following the expansion of its operation into an additional, adjacent warehouse, Essex-based Astro Lighting needed to identify a way of working that would maximise operational efficiencies. Exporting to over 34 countries, a cost effective warehouse and shipping operation is crucial.

The operation is set up in two dedicated areas – with one warehouse becoming goods in, the other goods out. Vital to this was a practical, energy and cost efficient way to move stock between the warehouses.

This is provided by a Bradshaw Electric Vehicles T800 Tow tractor – a compact four-wheeled vehicle, providing excellent manoeuvrability around the warehouses. Delivered cabbed, with a curtain side trailer allowing for extended tow capacity, the unit can carry three pallets of delicate stock, safely on each movement.
