YOU MIGHT not realise it, but the distinctive blue pallets you see all over Europe are a little different to your everyday pallets. We’d like to tell you why. First, they’re blue for one reason, and one reason only. That’s how you know it’s a CHEP pallet. We need to be able to see which ones belong to us because we own and reuse every single one of our pallets.
The way this works is that we supply CHEP pallets to our customers and when they’re finished with them, we come and collect them, completely free of charge. This enables our customers to save vital warehouse space and also eliminates the hassle of dealing with stacks of old pallets. But crucially, it allows us to repair and reuse them over and over again, passing them from customer to customer to customer.
It’s a simple idea, but it’s what makes us special. And it’s the reason we’re able to offer a better, more reliable and sustainable service to manufacturers and supply chains all around the world. But for us to continue delivering this great service, we need our customers to pass CHEP pallets back to us when they’ve finished with them.
Passing benefits from customer to customer
When you arrange a free collection and help us get our pallets back, you’re immediately helping us reduce the wood waste that’s caused by single use pallets. This is great for the environment, and therefore something we can all benefit from.
Whenever we get our pallets back, we give every single one a full inspection, repair any damage and make sure that they meet our high quality and safety standards. We can then make sure that our customers never receive any broken, damaged or unsafe pallets. This makes our service safer and more reliable, which obviously benefits logistics professionals in all sorts of ways.
We know availability is crucial to the smooth operation of global supply chains. Collecting, repairing and putting pallets to work again enables us to offer consistent levels of pallet availability that businesses can rely on. Ultimately, returning CHEP pallets helps reduce the number of pallets we need to replace, and increases the number of pallets we have in circulation, which enables us to deliver a better service to all our customers.
When we all play our part, everybody wins
CHEP currently has a global pallet pool of over 120 million pallets moving around the world at any given moment. This is made possible by the co-operation of customers who return their pallets and play their part in helping to cut carbon emissions, keep wood waste out of landfill and boost value across the supply chain.
So we’d like to ask you, if you know of any CHEP pallets that need collecting, please get in touch with us and we’ll come and collect them free of charge. Our online form makes it really easy, just fill in a few details and we’ll do the rest. Then you can relax, safe in the knowledge that you’re helping to keep all sorts of businesses and supply chains moving quickly, safely and more sustainably.
Let’s work together
We’re committed to making supply chains more efficient and using our unique capabilities and insight to help customers sell more, save money and be more sustainable. But to do this effectively, we need you to pass our pallets our back to us.
