The benefits of recycling circuit boards
30 November 2022
Without printed circuit boards (PCBs), we would not be able to enjoy all the benefits of modern electronics.

THEY ARE in everything from computers and appliances to electronic measuring instruments. But what happens to them when they stop working?
Printed circuit boards = hazardous waste
Most printed circuit boards end up being incinerated or landfilled. This is far from ideal. Environmental scientists worry about the ecological effects of this practice and are rightly concerned about the future impact on public health. PCBs are made of metal and plastic - usually copper and resin - and burning them releases toxic compounds into the air. If they are buried instead of incinerated, the metals in PCBs could eventually contaminate groundwater and end up in water.
PCBS can be recycled by TVH
Recycling PCBs is tricky, but we have the expertise and equipment to do it. It requires a special machine that separates the metal and plastic so that the materials can be reused. The environmental benefits are worth it. Not to mention, we can also benefit from the reused materials.
But waste management is only one part of the sustainability equation. An equally important factor is to keep PCBs in use and out of the dustbin for as long as possible. That is why we offer a professional PCB repair service and a wide range of refurbished PCBs that are as good as new.

TVH uses a range of specialised tools to restore PCBs to optimum condition. Then the testing begins. Every PCB we remanufacture is thoroughly tested in a machine, on a simulator or using an automated tester before it leaves the repair room. TVH checks functionality and print a test report. Once it is confirmed that the PCB is fully functional, TVH covers it with a protective coating to keep moisture and dirt at bay so that it remains fully functional for as long as possible.
Need a PCB repaired?
Send it to TVH. Fill in TVH’s repair form and provide a clear description of the fault, and TVH will send you a quote. Then you decide whether to proceed with the repair.
Old circuit boards
TVH is also interested in buying broken circuit boards that customers don't want back. TVH will remake them for sale, so they must be in repairable condition without burns or acid corrosion.
To find out if your parts qualify, fill in TVH’s 'Core purchase' form and send it to [email protected]
