The MAP3 mobile access platform
developed by Abex to ensure safer
practices when working at height has
won the UK Fork Lift Truck
Association's 2010 Award for safety.
"We designed the MAP3 as a much safer alternative to ladders and scaffolding, which according to HSE figures are the most common pieces of equipment involved in injuries and fatalities," says Abex MD Martin Connop, who accepted the 'Archie' award from Tim Waples of the category sponsor Doosan Infracore Forklifts at the ceremony on 27th February.
Originally developed for high level window and bodywork repair operations in the bus and coach sector, the electric powered rechargeable MAP3 is controlled from the platform and incorporates features such as a locking system to immobilise the unit when the front gates are open, and extending sidebars for a safe operator environment.
