Dürkopp Fördertechnik, a leader in the provision of conveyor and sortation systems, has completed a new hanging garment facility for Debenhams' warehouse at Sherburn-in-Elmet in Yorkshire.

This is the second system that Dürkopp has installed for Debenhams and follows the success of a similar system put in for the firm at their depot on Brackmills Industrial Estate in Northampton in 2006.

Paul Leggett, Debenhams Logistics Director, said: “Dürkopp Fördertechnik met a very tight project schedule from start to finish. The modular characteristics of the system give Debenhams the flexibility to carry out any modifications and extensions that might be necessary in the future. In addition, the system is robust and suits all our requirements.”

Dürkopp's modular set carrier system provides Debenhams with an efficient solution to receive, store and dispatch hanging garments sold through their network of 170 stores in the UK as well as their highly successful Internet and International Franchise Partner businesses.

The installation covers c.180,000 sq ft for receiving, picking and marshalling and 180,000 sq ft for storage over two floors with capacity to more than double the storage capacity as future demand requires. Stock moves between the levels on automated inter-floor conveyors.
