Cargotec's Kalmar Rough Terrain Center in Cibolo, Texas, has received an order for its light capability rough terrain forklift (LCRTF) trucks through its contract with the U.S. Department of Defense.
Total value of order is approximately EUR 50 million and it includes a delivery of 766 forklift trucks from July 2013 onwards. It follows deals signed in 2011 and 2012, taking the total on order now to 913.
Bryan Stephens, President of Kalmar Rough Terrain Center says: "We are proud to continue supporting the U.S. Department of Defense with our military materials handling equipment. The Kalmar RT-022 LCRTF is the second model purpose-built for the U.S. Department of Defense by the Kalmar Rough Terrain Center - with the Kalmar RT-240 rough terrain container handler (RTCH) already in operation. The LCRTF model has been designed to operate perfectly in tandem with the larger RTCH, with the combination providing a complete materials handling solution for operation in the field."
The LCRTF is a mission specific cargo handling solution designed for loading and unloading containers, railcars and tactical vehicles. The LCRTF has sufficient mobility to operate on the various types of terrain found in military and peace-keeping operations including work areas where high flotation and traction characteristics are required. Once delivered, they will be supported by Kalmar spare parts provision and field support representatives.
