CILT: 'win the supply chain triathlon'

To be successful in the Olympic triathlon, competitors must excel in three different disciplines. The same is true for supply chain professionals where creating social, economic and environmental value is the way to success.

Management of the supply chain in a manner that will create social, economic and environmental value is the key theme of the forthcoming Logistics Research Network (LRN) Conference to be held at Cranfield School of Management from 5th to 7th September.

The LRN is made up of academics, practitioners and other interested individuals under the broad umbrella of logistics, and the event is organised by The Chartered Institute of Logistics and Transport in the UK (CILT) in association with Cranfield School of Management.

The LRN Conference maintains its position as one of the primary European forums for the presentation and discussion of research results, current practice and new ideas in the fields of supply chain management, logistics and transport. Delegates are academics, consultants and practitioners.

This year, during the three day event, over 100 papers will be presented including new research on medical supply chains; night time deliveries (a theme operated in London during the Olympics); roads - salt and low temperatures; 'sixth sense logistics' - human-centric scheduling in the service sector; and new experiences from overseas including freight external costs in South Africa, reverse logistics in Saudi Arabia and risk management lessons learned from the Egyptian revolution in 2011.

In addition to the plenary sessions presented by industry speakers, the Conference programme will also reflect the wide range of research topics relating to logistics, supply chain management and transportation. The event provides the opportunity to present and discuss current issues and networking with international colleagues.

A Conference package including registration, two nights bed and breakfast accommodation, lunch and light refreshments, evening reception, conference dinner, an annual subscription to the International Journal of Logistics, and a hard copy of the paper abstracts and an electronic copy of all papers costs £550.
