More efficient put-away
18 April 2013
Enabling warehouse and production operatives to operate a safer, faster and more efficient pallet put-away process, the hydraulically operated Airflow Layer Lifter is designed to separate single or multiple layers in a palletised load.
The Layer Lifter can also be used to aid space optimisation in the warehouse, as a recent project for a major UK retailer illustrates.
The client's distribution centre deploys automated racking. At the Goods In area, product is put on to a conveyor system and routed automatically to the racking. However, due to the storage configuration there were pigeon holes that were too small to store product. There were 1800 such un-utilised spaces in the facility.
The Airflow Layer Lifter was placed in the Goods In area and used to split some pallets in half and fill these spaces. The payback is said to be thousands of pounds per week.
