Switch to flat pack garment supply

05 February 2015

Womenswear fashion brand, Whistles, has re-awarded Clipper Logistics the contract to manage the receipt and distribution of its product range to customers worldwide, supporting the retailer’s continued growth strategy.

Following a recent re-evaluation of supply chain processes, all garments will now arrive at the Clipper facility in flat pack form. Therefore, a wide range of items will require pre-retail services, such as steam tunnelling, to ensure they reach the customer in a suitable condition. This will allow for distribution direct to stores in a ‘shop floor ready’ format, or direct to customer, creating further cost and time efficiencies.

The four-year contract includes a full range of retail logistics services and will see Clipper handle stock destined for over 120 retail outlets, as well as eCommerce customers worldwide. The contract will also include an extensive range of pre-retail services, such as quality control, steam tunneling and hanging. This new contract will allow Whistles to pursue its international growth strategy, which includes the recent launch of a menswear range.

The retail logistics operation will be based in Milton Keynes, where the workforce servicing the Whistles contract has already grown. Further appointments are anticipated to cope with growing sales volumes during the life of the contract.
