Geodis UK has opened a new 50,000 sq ft hub
24 August 2015
The strategic move will enable Geodis to centralise its European network operations with all existing import/export linehaul activities being transferred from High Wycombe, Birmingham and Lutterworth. The Lutterworth network branch has also moved to Northampton.

The existing Geodis network sites around the country will continue to serve their areas ensuring customer service and collection and delivery services remain local. The Geodis full load and logistics business lines will also remain the same.
The new 50,000 sq ft site situated on Lodge Farm Industrial Estate in Northampton, spans four acres and will serve as a cross dock facility for all European activity with all European exports and imports directed to the site. This in turn will allow reduced trunking and handling of export and import goods and so increases performance and reduces the risk of damage.
35 people are working at the new site comprising a mix of drivers, customer services and warehouse staff managing over 50 vehicle movements per day.
The move is part of the company’s plans to enable further growth by offering customers an ever-more extensive set of supply chain solutions that add value to their businesses whilst at the same time facilitating improved operational efficiencies, reduced transit times and enhanced levels of customer service.
It will also be of benefit to the Fortec Distribution Network, also part of Geodis UK, offering their members quicker transit times from the nearby Fortec hub to Geodis’s main hub.
Jamie Cuthbert, managing director, Geodis UK said that the new central hub will play a pivotal role in the company's development plans.
He said: "This move forms part of exciting plans to restructure our network within the UK and to further grow our business and develop existing sites for the benefit of our customers. We want to be the growth partner of choice for our clients and this new hub will enable us to take a step closer to being exactly that. The operational efficiencies this move presents us with are significant, and we look forward to passing these onto our customers."
