XPO Logistics invests in further education
02 September 2015
Ten XPO Logistics managers have been awarded the company’s Foundation Degree in Leadership and Management.
This takes the total number of award recipients to 50 since the programme began in 2008. Developed and delivered by the company in collaboration with The University of Northampton, the two-year course was the first in the country to offer the ILM (Institute of Leadership & Management) Level 5 Extended Diploma in L&M as part of a Foundation Degree.
The company launched its Foundation Degree programme to provide motivated middle managers with support and training to help them fulfil their potential. The success of the programme is highlighted by XPO Logistics’ high level of talent retention and advancement. Of the 50 managers to have completed the programme, almost half have since been promoted and nearly 85% are still employed by the business.
Mark Simmons, Logistics Solutions HR and QHSE Director, UK and Ireland, said: "The course has taken close to three years to complete. A degree is hard work for full-time students, let alone for those who have to balance their coursework with busy day jobs. They all deserve massive congratulations for their achievements.
"Developing and retaining talent within the business ensures we have the right people with the right skills for the job. Our investment in our people is essential to delivering first-class service to our customers and plays a major part in the continuing growth of XPO Logistics in the UK and Ireland.”
