Port of Tyne deploys Speedor Storm doors

08 January 2016

Port of Tyne takes on Hart Door Systems’ Speedor Storms, industrial doors with wind resistance up to Class 5 (over 90mph).

They have been installed on a mobile hopper system which is a key part of the port’s ship unloading procedure.

Materials such as wood pellets are unloaded into hoppers which simultaneously load directly into lorries which drive into the hopper. Hart’s Nick Hart says the process generated dust which had to be controlled as a residential area was close-by.

“The hoppers came with rigid doors which blew out as they were rated just to Class 3 and were clearly not fit for purpose. We were invited to resolve the issue and by installing Speedor Storms, rated to Class 5 with exceptional wind resistance together with the automatic action that the Speedor Storms deliver, we have achieved a very satisfactory solution,” says Nick.
